Take a look at some of our videos and images from our recent workshops with children from across London …
From the outset of the project, meaningful engagement with children and ensuring they are at the heart of the Museum’s conceptual development has been key. It will be central to the testing and trialling; the ongoing operation; and the future direction and development of the Museum, on-site, off-site and online. Children are both the core audience, and the clients, of the Museum.
We have developed a framework for continuous and evolving engagement with children which we call the Children’s Creative Programme. This child-led engagement in the scoping and conceptualisation phase in summer 2011 will feed into the approach to creating a permanent vehicle for children’s involvement in the form of a Children’s Forum, and representation in all aspects of the Museum’s operation.
Children cannot come without their parents, carers and teachers, so we will involve them in the development process as well. We believe that involving parents and carers in their children’s creativity and play helps to ensure that experiences can be embedded and extended into everyday lives.
